SHENLEY, a parish comprising the hamlet of
Brook-End in the hundred of COTTESLOE, and the
township of Church-End in that of NEWPORT, county
of BUCKINGHAM, 3 miles (N. W. by W.) from Fenny-
Stratford, and containing 449 inhabitants. The living
is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Buckingham, and
diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at

The church is dedicated to St. Mary. An almshouse
was founded here by Thomas Stafford, Esq., with an
endowment of £35 per annum, for four men and two
women, each of whom receives a small weekly stipend,
and an annual allowance for clothing.
