SHILDON, a township in that part of the parish of ST-ANDREW-AUCKLAND which is in the north-western division of DARLINGTON ward, county palatine of DURHAM, 3 miles (S. E. by S.) from Bishop-Auckland, containing 115 inhabitants. Here is an extensive dep6t for goods, on the line of the railway from Witton park to Darlington and Stockton. A free school, erected by Mrs. Edward Whalton, is endowed with £25 a year, and a house and land occupied by the master.
