SHINCLIFFE, a chapelry in that part of the parish of ST-OSWALD-DURHAM, which is in the southern division of EASINGTON ward, county palatine of DURHAM, 1 mile (S. E.) from Durham, containing 367 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Durham, and in the patronage of the Vicar of St. Oswald. The chapel was built and endowed, in 1826, by the Dean and Chapter of Durham.
