SHOTTISHAM, a parish in the hundred of WILFORD, county of SUFFOLK, 5 miles (S. E.) from Woodbridge, containing 235 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry of Suffolk, and diocese of Norwich, rated in the king's books at £4.16. 0., endowed with £200 royal bounty, and in the patronage of Mrs. Elizabeth Darby and Miss Mary Kett. The church is dedicated to St. Margaret. The navigable river Deben runs on the western side of the parish, where there is an inlet, called Shottisham creek. Crag or shell pits, supposed to be diluvial remains, abound here.
