SHROPHAM, a parish in the hundred of SHROPHAM, county of NORFOLK, 4 miles (N. by W.) from East Harling, containing 457 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Norfolk, and diocese of Norwich, rated in the king's books at £8. 13. 9, and in the patronage of the Mayor and Cor- poration of Norwich. The church is dedicated to St. Peter. Shropham, which gave name to the hundred, was anciently a town of some importance, though it is now only a small village.
