SHUTTINGTON, a parish in the Tamworth division of the hundred of HEMLINGFORD, county of WARWICK, 3 miles (E. by N.) from Tamworth, containing 169 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry of Coventry, and diocese of Lichfield and Coventry, endowed with £400 private benefaction, and £600 royal bounty, and in the patronage of Sir Francis Burdett, Bart. The Coventry canal crosses the south-western angle of the parish.
