SIDDINGTON, a chapelry in the parish of PRESTBURY, hundred of MACCLESFIELD, county palatine of CHESTER, 5 miles (N. by W.) from Congleton, containing 481 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Chester, endowed with £403 private benefaction, and £400 royal bounty, and in the patronage of D. Davenport, Esq. The chapel is built partly of wood and plaster, and partly of brick. Courts leet and baron are held annually at Martinmas. JohnFowden, in 1712, founded a school, and endowed it with £ 8 per annum.
