SINGLETON, a chapelry in the parish of KIRKHAM, hundred of AMOUNDERNESS, county palatine of LANCASTER, 3 miles (E. by S.) from Poulton, containing 501 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry of Richmond, and diocese of Chester, endowed with £ 1000 private benefaction, and £ 1200 royal bounty, and in the patronage of - Shaw, Esq. The chapel, consecrated in 1754, is dedicated to St. Anne. There is a great fair for sheep and cattle on September 21st.
