SINGLETON, a parish in the hundred of WESTBOURN-and-SINGLETON, rape of CHICHESTER, county of SUSSEX, 5 miles (S. by W.) from Midhurst, contain-, ing, with the tything of Charlton, 484 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, annexed to the vicarage of West Dean, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Chichester, rated in the king's books at £6. 13. 4., and in fue patronage of the Dean and Chapter of Chichester for two turns, and of the Duke of Richmond for one. The church is in the later style of English architecture.
