SKIRWITH, a township in the parish of KIRKLAND, LEATH ward, county of CUMBERLAND, 7 miles (E. N. E.) from Penrith, containing 238 inhabitants. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists. A school was erected by subscription in 1828, towards which Lady le Fleming and W. Parker, Esq. each contributed £20. The mansion of the latter is supposed to occupy the site of a preceptory of Knights Templars.
