SLAPTON, a parish in the hundred of COTTESLOE,
county of BUCKINGHAM, 3 miles (N. by W.) from
Ivinghoe, containing 312 inhabitants. The living is a
rectory, in the archdeaconry of Buckingham, and diocese
of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £ 14. 9- 7.,
and in the patronage of the Dean and Canons of Christ
Church, Oxford. The church is dedicated to the Holy
Cross. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists.
The Grand Junction canal passes through
the parish. A charity school is supported by voluntary
subscriptions.
