SLAPTON, a parish in the hundred of GREENS-NORTON, county of NORTHAMPTON, 3 miles (W. S. W.) from Towcester, containing 201 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Northampton, and diocese of Peterborough, rated in the king's books at £9. 9. 9., and in the patronage of the Rev. Thomas C. Welch. The church is dedicated to St. Botolph. There is a place of worship for Wesleyan Methodists. Three poor children are educated by means of a trifling bequest from Thomas Knight, in 1723.
