SLAUGHTER (UPPER), a parish in the lower division of the hundred of SLAUGHTER, county of GLOUCESTER, 3 miles (S. W. by W.) from Stow on the Wold, containing 245 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Gloucester, rated in the king's books at £14. 14. 2., and in the patronage of Walter Lawrence Lawrence, Esq. The church is dedicated to St. Peter. Two brooks run through the parish, and afterwards fall into another, all which uniting form the river Windrush. There is a small endowment by the late rector, the Rev. F. T. Travell, for the support of a Sunday school.
