SLOUGH, a village, partly in the parish of STOKEPOGES, and partly in that of UPTON, hundred of STOKE, county of BUCKINGHAM, 41 miles (S. E. by S.) from Buckingham, and 21 (W.) from London. The population is returned with the parishes. A cattle market is held on Tuesday. Herschel, the celebrated astronomer, resided at this place, and here he constructed his powerful telescope; the frame of it is visible from the Bath road.
