SMISBY, a parish in the hundred of REPTON-and-GRESLEY, county of DERBY, 2 miles (N. N. W.) from Ashby de la Zouch, containing 322 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry of Derby, and diocese of Lichfield and Coventry, endowed with £400 royal bounty, and in the patronage of the Marquis of Hastings.
