SOMERCOATES (NORTH), a parish in the Marsh
division of the hundred of LOUTH-ESKE, parts of LINDSEY,
county of LINCOLN, 8 miles (N. E.) from Louth,
containing 684 inhabitants. The living is a vicarage,
in the archdeaconry and diocese of Lincoln, rated in
the king's books at £9. 18. 4., and in the patronage of
the King, as Duke of Lancaster. The church is dedicated
to St. Peter. There is a place of worship for
Wesleyan Methodists.
