SOMERSHAM, a parish in the hundred of BOSMERE-and-CLAYDON, county of SUFFOLK, 6 miles (N. W. by W.) from Ipswich, containing 377 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Suffolk, and diocese of Norwich, rated in the king's books at £8. Mrs. Stubbin was patroness in 1807. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. There is a place of worship for Independents.
