SOMERTON, a parish in the hundred of BABERGH,
county of SUFFOLK, 7 miles (N. B. byN.) from Clare,
containing 156 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in
the archdeaconry of Sudbury, and diocese of Norwich,
rated in the king's books at £6. 16. 8., and in the patronage
of the Marquis of Downshire. The church is
dedicated to St. Margaret.
