STALMINE, a chapelry in that part of the parish of LANCASTER which is in the hundred of AMOUNDERNESS, county palatine of LANCASTER, 5 miles (N. N. E.) from Poulton, containing, with the township of Stanall, 507 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, inthe archdeaconry of Richmond, and diocese of Chester, endowed with £200 private benefaction, and £200 royal bounty, and in the patronage of the Vicar of Lancaster. The chapel is dedicated to St. James.
