STANFORD, a parish in the upper division of the hundred of DODDINGTREE, county of WORCESTER, 8 miles (N. E. by N.) from Bromyard, containing 194 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Salop, and diocese of Hereford, rated in the king's books at £7. 4. 2., and in the patronage of Sir T. E. Wmnington, Bart. The church, dedicated to St. Mary, was erected in 1768, in the later style of English architecture. The river Teme runs through the parish, which produces hops and abounds with limestone.
