STAVERTON, a parish in the hundred of FAWSLEY, county of NORTHAMPTON, 2 miles (W. S. W.) from Daventry, containing 474 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Northampton, and diocese of Peterborough, and in the patronage of the Dean and Canons of Christ Church, Oxford. The church is dedicated to St. Mary. The Rev. Francis Baker, in 1767, gave certain land, now producing an1 annual income of £44, which is applied to the instruction of twenty-five children in a house occupied by themaster, and purchased with a bequest of £ 100 by Catharine Burbidge, in 1767. There is also a Sunday, school, supported by the annual proceeds of a legacy of £200, bequeathed by the late Rev. Sir John Knightley.
