STERT, a parish in the hundred of SWANBOROUGH,
county of WILTS, 2 miles (S. E.) from Devizes, containing
193 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy,
annexed to the vicarage of Urchfont, in the peculiar
jurisdiction of the Bishop of Salisbury. The church is
dedicated to St. James.
