STEWKLEY, a parish in the hundred of COTTESLOE,
county of BUCKINGHAM, 6 miles (E. by S.) from
Winslow, containing 933 inhabitants. The living is a
vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Buckingham, and diocese
of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £9. 9- 7.,
and in the patronage of the Bishop of Oxford. The
church, dedicated to St. Mary, is one of the most
enriched and complete specimens of the Norman style
of architecture now remaining. There is a place of
worship for Wesleyan Methodists.
