STOKE, a parish in the county of COVENTRY-city, 1 mile (E.) from Coventry, containing 572 inhabitants. The living is a vicarage not in charge, with that of Sow, or Walsgrave, annexed, in the arch- deaconry of Coventry, and diocese of Lichfield and Coventry, and in the patronage of the Crown. The church, dedicated to St. Michael, has lately received an addition of forty-four free sittings, the Incorporated Society for the enlargement of churches and chapels having granted £20 towards defraying the expense. The Coventry canal passes through the parish.
