STONEFERRY, a township in the parish of SUTTON, middle division of the wapentake of HOLDERNESS, East riding of the county of YORK, 1 mile (N. by E,) from Kingston upon Hull. The population is returned with the parish. There is a place of worship forWesleyan Methodists. Ann Waters, in 1720, bequeathed property for the erection and endowment of almshouses for seven widows, or poor old maids, who each receive £13 per annum; she also left an annuity of £5 to be paid to one of the almswomen for teaching ten poor girls.
