STONESFIELD, a parish in the hundred of WOOTTON,
county of OXFORD, 4 miles (W.) from Woodstock,
containing 498 inhabitants. The living is a discharged
rectory, in the archdeaconry and diocese of
Oxford, rated in the king's books at £4. 19. 9., and in
the patronage of the Duke of Marlborough. The church
is dedicated to St. James.
