STOWE, a parish in the wapentake of NESS, parts of KESTEVEN, county of LINCOLN, 2 miles (W.N.W.) from Market-Deeping, containing 21 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, with which that of Barholme was united, in 1772, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £4.3.9-> endowed with £200 royal bounty, and in the patronage of the Governors of Oakham and Uppingham schools. The church is dedicated to St. John the Baptist.
