STRATFORD-under-the-CASTLE, a parish in the
hundred of UNDERDITCH, county of WILTS, 1 mile
(N. W. by N.) from Salisbury, containing, with the
borough of Old Sarum, 385 inhabitants. The living is
a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry and diocese of
Salisbury, and in the patronage of the Dean and Chapter
of Salisbury. The church is dedicated to St. Lawrence.
