STRETTON, a parish in the hundred of ALSTOE,
county of RUTLAND, 8 miles (N. E. by E.) from Oakham,
containing'195 inhabitants. The living is a rectory,
in the archdeaconry of Northampton, and diocese
of Peterborough, rated in the king's books at £7.17
and in the patronage of .Sir G. Heathcote, Bart. The
church is dedicated to St. Nicholas. The Rev. John
Turner, in 1786, bequeathed £20 in support of a
school.
