STURTON (GREAT), a parish in the northern division of the wapentake of GARTREE, parts of LINDSEY, county of LINCOLN, 65 miles (N. W. by N.) froin Horncastle, containing 145 inhabitants. The living Is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at & 8, endowed with £200 royal bounty, and in the patronage of the Crown. The church is dedicated to All Saints.
