SULBY, a district (extra-parochial), in the hundred of ROTHWELL, county of NORTHAMPTON, 6 miles (S. W.) from Market-Harborough, containing 59 inhabitants. An abbey of the Premonstratensian order, in honour of the Blessed Virgin Mary, was founded here, about 1155, by Robert de Gtuerceto, Bishop of Lincoln, and its possessions were so much increased by Sir Robert de Paveley, Knt., that, at the dissolution, its revenue was estimated at £305. 8. 5.
