SUTTON, a parish in the hundred of WILFORD, county of SUFFOLK, 3 miles (S. E. by E.) from Woodbridge, containing 577 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Suffolk, and diocese of Norwich, rated in the king's books at £8. 2. 1., and in the patronage of the Rev. Robert Field. The church is dedicated to All Saints. There is a place of worship for Baptists. The navigable river Deben bounds the parish on the west, where there is a ferry to Woodford. Sutton Hall is a fine specimen of ancient domes- tic architecture.
