SUTTON, a parish in the hundred of ROTHERBRIDGE,
rape of ARUNDEL, county of SUSSEX, 5 miles
(S.) from Petworth, containing 353 inhabitants. The
living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry-and diocese of
Chichester, rated in the king's books at £15. 0. 10., and
in the patronage of the Earl of Egremont. The church,
dedicated to St. John, is partly in the early, and partly
in the decorated, style of English architecture.
