SWAINSTHORPE, a parish in the hundred of HUMBLEYARD, county of NORFOLK, 4 miles (N.N.E.) from St. Mary Stratton, containing 185 inhabitants. The living consists of the united rectories of St. Mary and St. Peter, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Norwich, rated in the king's books at £12. 13. 4., and in the patronage of the Rev. R. C. Long. The church, dedicated to St. Peter, is a small ancient structure, with a steeple, round at the basement, and sexangular above; that of St. Mary was pulled down at the Reformation.
