SWARLAND, a township in that part of the parish of FELTON which is in the eastern division of COQUETDALE ward, county of NORTHUMBERLAND, 8 miles (S. by W.) from Alnwick, containing 211 inhabitants. An obelisk of white freestone, erected by the late Alexander Davison, Esq. to the memory of Admiral Lord Nelson, stands near Swarland Hall, and close to the great road between Morpeth and Alnwick.
