TALLAND, a parish in the hundred of WEST, county of CORNWALL, 2 miles (S. W. by W.) from West Looe, containing, with the borough of West Looe, 1378 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Cornwall, and diocese of Exeter, rated in the king's books at £10. The Rev. N. Kendall was patron in 1806. The church is dedicated to St. Tallan. The parish is bounded on the south by the English channel, and includes the decayed market-town of West Looe, and part of the small fishing town of Polperro. Mary Kendall, in 1710, left £4 per annum for teaching poor girls 5 and Charles Kendall, in 1746, gave £6 a year for the instruction of boys.
