TANSOR, a parish in the hundred of WILLYBROOK county of NORTHAMPTON, 2 miles (N. N. E.) from Oundle, containing 234 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Northampton, and diocese of Peterborough, rated in the king's books at £13. 12. 11., and in the patronage of the Dean and Chapter of Lincoln. The church, dedicated to St. Mary is a small structure, partly in the Norman,' and partly in the early English style, with some screen-work and ancient monuments. The parish is partly bounded by Ihe river Nen; at Cotterstock, on its opposite bank; a fine Roman tesselated pavement has been discovered. Clement Bellamy, in 1658, bequeathed £5 per annum for the education of children.
