TAWTON (SOUTH), a parish in the hundred of WONFORD, county of DEVON, 3 miles (E. by S.) from Oakhampton, containing 1878 inhabitants. The living is a vicarage, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Exeter, rated in the king's books at £10, endowed with £15 per annum and £200 private benefaction, and £1400 parliamentary grant, and in the patronage of the Dean and Canons of Windsor. The church is dedicated to St. Andrew.
