TELLISFORD, a parish in the hundred of WELLDEW, county of SOMERSET, 6 miles (N. N. E.) from Frome, containing 167 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry of Wells, and diocese of Bath and Wells, rated in the king's books at £9.1.05., and in the patronage of the Rev. C. W. Baker. The church is dedicated to All Saints. The parish is separated from Wiltshire by the river Frome, which is here crossed by a bridge. A school is endowed with the interest of £143 three per cents., by, Edward Crabb, a native of this place. About a third part of the village was destroyed by fire in 1785.
