THANINGTON, a parish in the hundred of WESTGATE, lathe of ST-AUGUSTINE, county of KENT, l mile (S. W. by W.) from Canterbury, containing, with the hamlet of Milton, 374 inhabitants. The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry and diocese of Canterbury, endowed with £200 private benefaction, and £200 royal bounty, and in the patronage, of the Archbishop of Canterbury. The church is dedicated to St.'Nicholas. The ancient road, called Stane-street, passes through the parish.
