THEALE, a chapelry in the parish of TILEHURST,
hundred of READING, county of BERKS, 4 miles (W.
by S.) from Reading. The population is returned with
the parish. The chapel is a beautiful structure, in the
later style of English architecture, recently erected, at
the expense of Mrs. Sophia Sheppard. The Rev. Thomas
Sheppard, D.D., gave £20 a year for establishing a
school on the Madras system.
