THOROTON, a parish in the northern division of
the wapentake of BINGHAM, county of NOTTINGHAM,
8 miles (S. S. W.) from Newark, containing 145 inhabitants.
The living is a perpetual curacy, in the archdeaconry
of Nottingham, and diocese of York. The church
is a small edifice, dedicated to St. Elena.
