THROPPLE, a township in that part of the parish of MITFORD which is in the western division of MORPETH ward, county of NORTHUMBERLAND, 4 miles (W.) from Morpeth, containing 75 inhabitants. At Whittle Hill are slight remains of a Roman camp; the intrenchments have been almost obliterated by the plough, and the stones removed for repairing the roads. Coins have been found near it, in an ancient barrow, called Money Hill.
