THUNDERSLEY, a parish partly in the hundred of ROCHFORD, consisting of the hamlet of Thundersley, but chiefly in the hundred of BARSTABLE, county of ESSEX, 2 miles (S.W. by W.) from Rayleigh, containing 546 inhabitants. The living is a discharged rectory, in the archdeaconry of Essex, and diocese of London, rated in the king's books at £ 14.13. 4., and in the patronage of the Rev, G. Hemming. The church, dedicated to St. Peter, is an admixture of the Norman and. early English styles of architecture.
