TIBSHELF, a parish in the hundred of SCARSDALE,
county of DERBY, 4 miles (N. E. by N.) from Alfreton,
containing 711 inhabitants. The living is a discharged
vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Derby, and diocese of
Lichfield and Coventry, rated in the Icing's books at
£4. 5. 3., and in the patronage of Miss Lord. Thechurch,
dedicated to St: John the Baptist, was rebuilt
in 1729. The manufacture of stockings is carried ori,
and there are extensive collieries in the parish.
