TICKENHAM, a parish in the hundred of PORTBURY, county of SOMERSET, 9 miles ("W. by S.) from Bristol, containing 405 inhabitants. The living is a discharged, vicarage, united to that of Portbury, in the archdeaconry of Bath, and diocese of Bath and Wells,-rated in the king's books at £8. 15. 5., endowed with £200 private benefaction, and £200 royal bounty, and in the patronage of Adam Gordon, Esq. The church is dedicated to St. Quiricus and Julietta. About a mile north of it are the remains of a double-intrenched Roman camp; the ramparts, constructed of limestone, enclose an area of about ap acre.
