TINTINHULL, a parish in the hundred of TINTINHULL, county of SOMERSET, 2 miles (S. W.) from IIchester, containing, with the tything of Stock-Dennis, 398 inhabitants. The living is a discharged vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Wells, and diocese of Bath and Wells, endowed with £600 private benefaction, £400 royal bounty, and £300 parliamentary grant, and in the patronage of the Right Hon.W. Arbuthnot. The church is dedicated to St. Margaret. The old Roman Fosse-way passes through the parish, which is bounded on the north by the navigable river Ivel. Stock-Dennis was anciently a very populous place, but at present it contains only two families.
