TRENT, a parish in the hundred of HORETHORNE, county of SOMERSET, 3 miles (N. E. by E.) from Yeovil, containing 479 inhabitants. The living is a rectory, in the archdeaconry of Wells, and diocese of Bath and Wells, rated in the king's books at £23. 5. 5., and in the patronage of the President and Fellows of Corpus Christi College, Oxford, The church, dedicated to St. Andrew, has a tower at the south-east corner' surmounted by an hexagonal spire. John Young, in 1678, bequeathed £1000 for the erection and endow-' ment of a free school; the annual income is about £95, for which fifteen poor boys are instructed.
