TUBNEY, a parish in the hundred of OCK, county
of BERKS, 4 miles (W. by N.) from Abingdon, containing
138 inhabitants. The living is a sinecure rectory,
in the archdeaconry of Berks, and diocese of
Salisbury, rated in the king's books at £3. 1. 10., and
in the patronage of the President and Fellows of Magdalene
College, Oxford. The church has been entirely
demolished: on the induction of a rector, the ceremony
takes place in the open air. The parishioners repair
to Fyfield church for the performance of ecclesiastical
rites.
