TUGBY, a parish partly in the hundred of GARTREE, but chiefly in the eastern division of the hundred of GOSCOTE, county of LEICESTER, 7 miles (W. by N.) from Uppingham, containing, with the liberty of Keythorpe, 265 inhabitants. The living is a vicarage, in the archdeaconry of Leicester, and diocese of Lincoln, rated in the king's books at £11. 8. 4., and in the patronage of the Crown. The church is dedicated to St. Thomas' & Becket. Robert Wilson; in 1726, bequeatlifed land, directing the produce to be applied for teaching children and the relief of the poor.
